The Role

The Director of Finance and Accounting will lead the company's financial strategy and operations, while collaborating with the CEO and the executive team. This position reports directly to the CEO and has accountability to the Board of Directors. In addition to Finance, this position will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate accounting operations, which is currently completed by a third-party, but is part of the role to determine the best way forward. Given that we are a fast-growing, young smaller business, all leadership roles at UTG must be both strategic and hands on at times. We are seeking a candidate who can rapidly develop and desires to grow into a CFO role. This role will have broad authority to establish the organization, processes, and technology required to have a best-in-class Finance and Accounting function.

Responsibilities

• Fully participate on the Senior Executive Team
• Create and present financial, accounting and tax strategy 
• Oversee accounting, currently in a third party capacity
• Provide financial strategy, planning, analysis and insights
• Oversee cash flow, cash management, working capital, and company audits
• Prepare financial statements and reports
• Ensure legal compliance on all financial functions
• Manage relationships with banks
  
• Provide financial forecasting and budget oversight
  
• Provide after-project review/profitability analysis
• Continuously learn best practices from external learning
• Champion continuous improvement, automation and off shoring as means to improve margins
  

Qualifications

The successful candidate should have some or all of the following experiences and qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in accounting, finance, BA or a related field, MBA is also a plus
  
• Experience with project-based accounting and finance is a must
  
• Experience developing the financial strategy for a company
  
• ERP experience, experience with Acumatica is a plus
• Experience working for a large company to learn best practices, and preferred small company experience, especially a scaling company
• CPA is a plus
• Comfortable in a fast-growing, scaling company
